How to Repair Pool Coping

If you notice any cosmetic issues or cracks in your swimming pool concrete coping, it is best to repair it as soon as possible. When damage, especially structural damage, is repaired in a timely fashion, it prevents the problem from snowballing into a bigger issue that might require major pool renovation. Now that it’s January, it is unlikely that anyone will be taking a dip in your pool anytime soon, so now is the perfect time to conduct repairs, from resetting coping stones to doing a bit of grouting and caulking. Let’s take a look at how you can repair damaged swimming pool concrete coping.

Replace or Reset Your Swimming Pool Concrete Coping

Coping around your pool perimeter will be subject to natural damage, wear, and tear. Swimming pool coping can at times become insecure or unleveled as a result of a damaged bond beam, a crack, or even ground movement. If you notice visible cracks, your best bet is to drag a chain or a hammer across the coping to listen for hollow spots. If you do detect hollow spots, you may need to replace or reset your swimming pool concrete coping.

Replace Any Damaged Pool Tiles

After you’ve repaired your swimming pool concrete coping, you may want to repair any damaged or broken pool tiles. Once you have ensured the coping stone and bond beam are properly set, it is a great idea to replace and re-adhere the tile to the pool tile line.
