Acid Stain on Concrete

KITCHEN APPLIANCE SHOWROOM

A chemically reactive acid stain treatment was installed on this new 3" topping slab. A solvent based acrylic sealer was applied to protect the surface coloration and highlight the natural variegated, mottled effects created by the acid stain process.

Thin Cement Resurfacing and Stain

Thin Micro topping and acid stain installation

This project used Elite Crete's thin cement resurfacing system to add a slate like texture to an existing concrete floor. The topping system was then cut into a tile pattern and two color acid stains were applied, one to color the 'field' or main floor area and then the other was applied to the cut pattern area to give a deeper highlight color.

MICROTOPPINGS

Kitchenware retail store floor

Micro-Toppings or skim coats are resurfacing systems that are generally installed between 1/32-inch and 1/8-iches thick. They are used to resurface concrete slabs that would generally not be great candidates for colors and finishes applied directly to them. Like in this retail store, a Micro Topping System allowed versatility in design and functionality by creating a new textured slate like surface finish on which to add color. Topical dyes were applied and a low VOC coating system was used to protect the finish.

Topical Stain - SimStain Floor Application

Restaurant Floor
SimStain is the next best alternative to Acid Stain coloration. SimStain is a safe alternative to common acid stains. It contains no hazardous components, yet produces the mottled, variegated look associated with chemical (acid) stains used in decorative concrete.

SimStain has proven to be long lasting without the application of a clear sealer, but a clear sealer will enhance the beauty and durability of the finished surface. Visit the SimStain Website>>

TOPICAL DYES ON CONCRETE

GRAPHICS DESIGN STUDIO

Topical Dyes or Stains are available in either water based or solvent based solutions. These colors are applied with various techniques onto a hardened and dry concrete surface. For this project, the slab was protected very early in construction to minimize markings and damage that would permeate through the color. Multiple coats of a acrylic based concrete sealer was installed as a protective wear surface to keep the color looking vibrant and new.

INTERIOR SELF LEVELING OVERLAYS

PIZZA RESTAURANT

Interior Self Leveling Overlays are designed to rejeuvenate concrete slabs that are in poor condition, have been damaged from construction, and/or from removal of old floor coverings. This overlay was installed at approximately 1/4" thick, followed by a decorative pattern layout, resurfacing of the insets with a white based microtopping, line scoring, and concrete dye/stain highlights. Because of the high traffic in this location, a two component water based epoxy primer and a two component water based polyurethane top coat were applied to seal and protect the floor surface.

STAMPABLE OVERLAYS

HIGH END SPA

Stampable Overlays are similar to conventional stamped concrete but are able to be only ¼" to ½" thick when applied over existing concrete or wood substrates. They can also be textured and patterned using thin texturing mats and tools. This system offers the look of authentic tile, brick, slate, stone, wood plank and more. In this high end Spa the look of "European Courtyard Cobblestone" was created with the addition of topical dye highlights and a solvent based sealer that resists peroxides, and water. Ideal for the specific requirements in this location.
