Russ Eisenberg wants clients to feel at ease when working with him and his team at SoClean Blasting. He and his father, who are business partners, started SoClean Blasting based on the commitment of treating their clients as they would want to be treated.
“We don’t want to be a regular, run of the mill contractor,” Eisenberg, who opened SoClean Blasting in 2004, says. “We go the extra mile by talking to our customers and really understanding the project before we get involved. We want every project to be easy and smooth.”
In the four years they’ve been in business, SoClean has build both a commercial and a residential clientele, providing predominately interior work, with the majority currently focused on residential projects. Eisenberg also works closely with architects and designers on projects.
SoClean Blasting originally launched as a strictly surface preparation business. When they were hired by Old Navy to prep a store’s floors, they did their first coating job, which peaked Eisenberg’s interest.
As a result, he began learning more about microtoppings and stains and started moving SoClean Blasting from focusing on surface preparation to decorative flooring. Today, SoClean Blasting offers concrete floors, concrete countertops, concrete polishing, microtopping and stains, architectural coatings, and hand-painted artisan effects.
“We are factory certified by both Ardex and Floric Polytech in the application of microtoppings, underlayments and epoxies,” Eisenberg says. “We work extensively with other name brand products such as Sherwin Williams and Eco-Procote.”
SoClean Blasting, like many other businesses today, are focusing on being environmentally conscious.
“When we’re picking material and sealers, we try to focus on indoor air quality as it compares to durability,” Eisenberg, who is the sponsorship chair of the Long Island Green Building Council, says. “We talk to the customer about that kind of thing. There are water-based products that are super-durable but you don’t have the odor or the VOCs.”
In addition to the environment, a common concern of many customers is how long the decorative concrete will ultimately last. If SoClean Blasting’s decorative floors are properly maintained, according to Eisenberg, the floors can last a lifetime. If the floors are not properly maintained, life expectancy is generally between five and seven years.
Saving customers money in the long run, decorative concrete floors are also much more durable than other types of floorings. Whereas floor coverings and other types of floors can be damaged and destroyed when flooded or covered with water for any extended period, decorative concrete floors can sit under water without any damage.
SoClean Blasting offers a warranty on all of its products. While a one-year warranty is their standard, warranties can vary depending upon the product. For example, some of SoClean Blasting’s coating systems are backed by five or 10 year warranties.
When SoClean Blasting first launched, Eisenberg and his team focused specifically on resurfacing products before expanding into other areas of decorative concrete. SoClean Blasting will soon officially be launching So Clean Concrete Creations, a new decorative concrete division of SoClean Blasting.
Today, SoClean Blasting connects with prospective clients through a variety of advertising methods such as the Blue Book and following Internet leads. Eisenberg has also secured many new clients from word of mouth.
“We are still a relatively young company,” Eisenberg says, “and we do a considerable amount of business for the age and the size that we are.”
With headquarters in Ronconcoma, New York, SoClean Blasting serves the entire state of New York. Because SoClean Blasting is a regional company, Eisenberg also accepts projects as far away as Massachusetts.
Clients and prospective clients are invited to visit SoClean Blasting’s showroom, located at their main facility, during regular business hours, or they can call for an appointment for an evening to weekend showing.
Eisenberg will also travel to the residence of architects and homeowners to meet with them to discuss their needs and to show samples of SoClean Blasting’s work.
