‘Proper preparation can mean the difference between a good job and a great one or, for some less exacting installers, even failure. Too many times we’ve seen inadequate prep on an outside job that lead to failure. There are fundamental procedures that must be carried out, and specific systems put in place, to achieve a top quality installation. Artisan Concrete Systems was called to this failed project (shown left) and asked to repair 30 newly constructed condo units. The photo far left shows the condition of the dis-bonding overlay when we arrived. The previous contractor installed these floors with inadequate surface preparation, resulting in total failure. The photos right show our new floors nearing completion.

‘But’, Anton maintains, ’some of the most elegant and authentic finishes are still achieved by hand.’
‘It’s basically time-sensitive performance art,’ Anton says. ‘It’s critical to be comfortable with your products and systems. Concrete is a naturally reactive material and has to be respected as such.’
