Maintaining decorative concrete is the best way to ensure your investment lasts. As there are hundreds of different products and systems on the market it is always a good idea to contact a concrete professional to clean and maintain your colored concrete.
Maintaining colored and decorative concrete, including, stamped concrete, acid stained concrete, patterned concrete, concrete pavers, driveways and walkways generally invloves these steps:
Clean and remove all stains, residues, paints and flaking sealer often times with a high pressure washer. Some more aggressive cleaning can be done with a heated unit or with de-greasers in the case of a driveway or vehicle traffic area.
Allow to dry thoroughly overnight.
Reaply a sealer or coating as per original manufacturers specifications. Usually by roller and or sprayer.
If you do not know of the original products used, on-site sampling should be done to test the surface for compatibility.
Apply one or two coats as necessary.
Keep in mind some sealers are slippery and you may want to consider adding an anti-slip additive into the mix for more grip.
