Some concrete contractors run their businesses in areas of the country where the weather is condusive to interior as well as exterior decorative concrete applications. But for those who live and work in regions that have drastic weather changes, more planning needs to go into the business strategy.
"We would do polished concrete in the winter months," says owner of Rosebud Concrete in Myerstown. "We also focus on staining interior floors."
For a concrete contractor who specializes in exterior concrete, Rosebud is staying ahead of the game. "Some concrete guys just shut down in the winter months, but that doesn't make sense to me. We put all our efforts into getting interior jobs by putting together a marketing plan in late spring. That seems to keep us busy when we can't do outside jobs."
In fact, Rosebud Concrete is getting an early start this season. They just completed a new warehouse facility, Farmer Boy AG, which is an agriculture supplier. For this commercial concrete project, Rosebud Concrete installed roughly 3,000 square feet of exposed aggregate polished floors, 2,000 square feet of colored floors, about 55,000 square feet of warehouse floor, and 15,000 square feet of exterior floors.
