Concrete Solutions Plus

Eight years ago, Mac Gordon owned a floor maintenance company and Gary Brady owned a janitorial supply company. The two knew each other casually, but that would all change when Gordon went to Home Depot to purchase epoxy coating to fix his garage floor.

Unfortunately, the epoxy rubbed off as soon as Gordon parked his car over it. He immediately got online and started learning about epoxy coatings and, in turn, decorative concrete. What he discovered fascinated him. At the same time, Brady was starting to offer epoxy floors to warehouses.

The two teamed up, and countless clients later, the rest is history.

Concrete Solutions Plus is a Bomanite franchise partner. With a 60 year history, the Bomanite Corporation is a premier company in the industry and only works with established, high quality decorative concrete companies.

Bomanite Corporation approached Gordon and Brady, who readily agreed to becoming a franchisee, only one of two Bomanite franchisees in Colorado at the time.

“Bomanite is pretty high tech,” says Brady. “We were selected as one of the people here in Denver and we felt pretty good about that. We’ve had a long running association that has worked out very, very well.

Today, Concrete Solutions Plus is a thriving decorative concrete company. And while the majority of Concrete Solutions Plus’s work has been commercial to date, largely due to the relationships Brady and Gordon have developed with architects, designers, and contractors, the business partners are now focused on bringing more residential clients to Concrete Solutions Plus.

Among the decorative concrete products that Concrete Solutions Plus offers their clients are acid staining, concrete resurfacing, stamped overlays, decorative cuts and scoring, concrete flooring, micro topping, and concrete sealing.

A strong selling point of decorative concrete is its durability, but how long decorative concrete lasts will really depend upon the maintenance it receives.

“Every decorative concrete floor is going to need maintenance. There are no maintenance free floors,” Gordon says. “Unfortunately, a lot of people think concrete means you never have to do anything and it will last forever.”
But, a long lifespan goes beyond proper maintenance. It also depends on whether the floors have been installed properly.

“A lot of jobs are driven by cost to do a process that is a little more cost-effective, but it’s not going to hold up as well. If you do it right, it will really last an incredible amount of time.”

Regardless, Concrete Solutions Plus stand behind their products and offer a standard one-year warranty on their decorative concrete products. In addition, the manufacturer of the decorative concrete materials generally warranties it for a lifetime.

While Concrete Solutions Plus has worked with countless clients in the last eight years, both Brady and Gordon agree that their best project to date was for the Colorado Army National Guard Helicopter Headquarters at Buckley Air Force Base.

“We did 80,000 square feet of standing in the helicopter facility with huge logos eight feet across,” Gordon says. “You don’t always get the opportunity to do really nice, complicated, well-designed work.

“The challenging issue was they wanted to be able to have a compass that points to other facilities in the United States with an arrow,” Brady says.  “The other aspect was the logos that they wanted for the Army National Guard and inserting the logos into the concrete, designing, developing and coming up with a real idea on how to do that.”

Despite the challenges they faced, Concrete Solutions Plus completed a “drop-dead gorgeous project,” according to Brady.

The success of the project led Concrete Solutions Plus to another governmental project: Their next major government project will take place on a military base in Wyoming in 2009.

Arguably, Concrete Solutions Plus’s success is due, in large part, to the philosophies by which the decorative concrete company is run. Both Gordon and Brady run Concrete Solutions Plus based on simple yet powerful philosophies, starting with providing the best possible product to their clients.

“We stand behind our product and give fantastic customer service. We don’t run and hide. If there’s a problem, we try to take care of it immediately,” Brady says.

Gordon agrees.

“Do the job once. I see so many companies having to fix failures. If I could look back to the eight years we have been doing the floors, we have had fewer problems than any other companies I’ve heard of,” Gordon says. “Doing it right the first time is the secret.”

It is that philosophy that has helped propel Concrete Solutions Plus to success in Colorado and beyond. As a result, Gordon and Brady secure much of their work from word of mouth, the internet, and advertising.

Based in Denver, Colorado, Concrete Solutions Plus serves clients in the Denver-Boulder area, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Glenwood Springs, and Aspen. Concrete Solutions Plus also works with clients in the rest of Colorado and neighboring Wyoming.
