John Muldoon first discovered the artistic world of decorative concrete from a friend who specializes in it. From that moment on, he was fascinated by decorative concrete and knew it presented the perfect business opportunity.

In 2002, he launched Concepts in Concrete, and since then he has provided interior and exterior concrete designs to countless residential and commercial clients. Concepts in Concrete, based in Bristol, Pennsylvania, is a distributor for Elite Crete and serves and installs Elite Crete Systems in all of Bucks County, Montgomery County, Delaware County, Berks County, and South Jersey.

One of the reasons for Muldoon’s success is how he approaches his business. He listens carefully to his clients. In fact, every decorative concrete floor he installs is custom designed. But, before he and his team do any work, Muldoon first interviews the client to pinpoint exactly what he or she wants.

Muldoon and his team provide decorative concrete overlays, including acid stains, interior and exterior overlays, micro-finishes, stamped overlays, concrete stenciling and scoring, power washing, concrete sealing, re-coloring stamped concrete, epoxies, and design and layout.

All products are backed by a guarantee, which varies according to the specific product. However, according to Muldoon, the guarantee is typically for five years.

“The lifespan of the decorative concrete depends upon the maintenance, but it really will last a long time with the proper maintenance,” says Muldoon, who secures his business from word of mouth, the Internet, and advertising.

To date, Concepts in Concrete has accrued more than 135,000 square feet of acid staining experience and more than 400,000 square feet of concrete overlay experience. All of the work is completed by members of the Concepts in Concrete team and is supervised by Muldoon.
