Even after 20 years at the helm of Califon Concrete Works, Todd Cifrodelli is constantly learning new techniques and staying atop of the latest trends, in an effort to provide his clients with the best product possible.
But, continuing education does more than ensure client satisfaction: It keeps Cifrodelli and his team passionate about the work that they do and excited to go to work everyday.
“I love working with concrete,” Cifrodelli says. “It’s such an interesting product to me. My family was in construction and I loved the concrete side of it. I just went in that direction and never stopped.”
Today, Cifrodelli’s company, Califon Concrete Works, which offers both interior and exterior concrete designs, serves residential and commercial clientele in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
While Califon Concrete Works specializes in polish, dyes, and specialty dyes, they also offer concrete countertops, acid staining, stamped concrete, and stone effects. In the spring and summer, Cifrodelli and his team also work on pool decks, making them slip-resistant.
“One of our biggest services is a concrete injection, which means we lift up the concrete when it sinks or settles or is slanted. We lift and inject it up without removing anything, and it saves clients a lot of money,” Cifrodellis says. “It’s also called hydraulics or mud-jacking. That’s a popular part, but not a ton, of our work.”
Califon Concrete Works products are backed by a guarantee. For how long that guarantee is valid depends upon the product. Typical coatings, for example, receive a two-year guarantee.
The lifespan of decorative concrete products, however, can be indefinite if the product is properly maintained. In fact, Cifrodelli notes that products are often 15 years old before they need sealers reapplied.
While Cifrodelli has completed many memorable jobs for clients, one in particular stands out as his best to date.
“We transformed a job in Hunterdon from a really horrendous pour that the mason did into an almost a glass-like surface that looked like polished tiles,” Cifrodelli says. “It looks just like a mirror. From what it went from to what it is now is just tremendous.”
Headquartered in Califon, New Jersey, Califon Concrete Works serves New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut with most of their clients being located in Bergen, Morris, and Hunterdon Counties. Cifrodelli and his team will also travel out-of-state for projects.
Clients and prospective clients are invited to view one of the numerous showrooms of Califon Concrete Works’ work around the tri-state area, including Sahara Pools on Route 22 in White House Stations and City Pools on Route 22 in Scotch Plains near Union.
A new showroom is scheduled to open in Hyfalia at 25th Easter 26th Street in Manhattan. The showroom at Hyfalia, Sahara Pools, and City Pools are open during regular business hours.
