They begin the polishing process with a walk-behind machine fitted with rotating diamond-abrasive heads. This machine removes the surface layer of concrete and achieves a fine polish. The polish is increased by using progressively finer diamond-abrasive segments, starting with very coarse grinding abrasive that remove thickness in the concrete, and moving to metal-bonded diamond heads. From there, resin-bonded diamonds achieve various degrees of polishing from a gloss up to a highly reflective sheen.
