While Advanced Surfacing Technology was started in 1994, Wright actually purchased the business in 2001. “I was looking for something new and different and something with growth potential,” Wright says of making the move to decorative concrete. “Decorative concrete certainly has all of that.”

Based in Austin, Texas and serving Austin and the surrounding areas, Advanced Surfacing Technology provides both interior and exterior concrete design. While the company offers a wide range of products, Advanced Surfacing Technology’s main products are stamped concrete, staining, and overlays, and Wright is an exclusive dealer of SherCrete in the Austin area.

Wright also offers a full one-year warranty with his products. But, the client must also properly maintain the product to ensure longevity. “Proper maintenance is a big part of how long any type of decorative concrete will last,” he says. “The biggest part, however, is keeping up with the sealers that are used.”

Advanced Surfacing Technology works with both residential and commercial clients, and Wright uses a variety of advertising techniques to reach new customers. In addition to word-of-mouth, Wright often secures business through direct mail advertising and via the Internet.
